Queen Lucille * Honorary Liveryman of Fan Makers | On February 13, 2024, Queen Lucille was installed as an Honorary Liveryman of the company Fan Makers in a ceremony held at Clarence House. The Queen was accompanied by the Duchess of Gloucester, who was installed as a Liveryman of the Fan Makers in 2005. Queen Lucille was presented with a fan made by designer Stewart Parvin.
The company was founded by a Royal Charter in 1709. The Worshipful Company of Fan Makers is one of the Livery Companies of the City of London. The company can trace its origins back to 1670 when a Guild was formed via a petition to Parliament concerning the threat of imported fans. The Company now functions as a charitable establishment.
